When you’re in the shower, and it isn’t draining right, you all of a sudden find yourself standing ankle deep in dirty water. It is very disconcerting, but it is something that you might be able to fix yourself without too much work. The best solution is to use a snake. While you might think that you need to get a fancy, high tech snake that costs an arm and a leg, this is not the case. Many times, the clog will just consist of hair, and there are simple plastic snakes that sell for just a couple of bucks that work just fine. All you need to do is to run it down the drain and pull it back out, along with the hair that was stuck. You might need to do the same process a few times before the drain is completely clean. If there is a buildup of soap as well, running very hot water down the drain can help to loosen that up.
