Having an old toilet seat can throw off the look of your whole bathroom. Even worse, a loose toilet seat can drive you nuts when you are sitting on it. But neither of these situations should get you down, replacing a toilet seat is not a very complicated task. In fact, you can probably accomplish it fairly quickly on your own.
It is good to think ahead before you start the job. Since you will have an old toilet seat to dispose of, and you probably don’t just want to drop it on the floor, you can make sure to bring a bag in with you to put it in once it is removed. You should also make sure you have any tools necessary. Usually, a toilet seat is mounted with two bolts, so you might need a wrench and possibly a screwdriver.
Most toilets will have covers over the bolts, so you will need to pop this off before you can get to the bolts. The main thing to keep in mind when installing your new seat is to avoid over-tightening the bolts since you could damage the toilet otherwise.
