Did you know that your insulation plays an important role year round? How is that? While we all know how insulation helps keep your home warm in the winter time, it also helps keep the heat out in the summertime. This means that a well insulated home will save you money whether you’re trying to stay warm or stay cool.

How efficient is your insulation? Usually, you will find that your home will have a different R-value depending on where you live, and the warmer the climate, the lower the rating the insulation has.

The R-value of a wall as a whole can, however, be different than the value of the actual insulation. This is because there are many factors that affect the effectiveness of insulation. For example, if the insulation is wet or compressed, it will be less efficient. The same is true if there are cracks or holes in the wall behind the insulation. Many times it will take a lot of work to remedy a problem with your insulation, since you will need to open up your walls and then finish the wall up again after you are done. If the situation is serious enough, though, it will be worth the investment.
