You’ve probably heard or seen smart homes discussed somewhere, but what does it involve? A smart home generally refers to a home with systems for conveniently controlling many if not all of it’s functions. This can include appliances, lighting, climate control, security, and even more.
These systems are often managed by a central ‘hub’ to which all of the other devices connect. Many of these hubs are internet connected, allowing you to control your home’s functions from almost anywhere while you are out, or on holiday. This can help you check on your home with a camera, simulate activity for security, or make sure the appliances are switched on early when you start you trip home.
Beyond these main functions of security and management, a smart system can also make life more convenient day to day. You could have your blinds open automatically with your morning alarm, while your coffee machine begins brewing. Or you could have your lights dim slowly after sunset as bedtime approaches.
