How often should you be cleaning your towels? You might think that because you are clean when you get out of the bath or shower, that you wouldn’t need to clean your towel that often. But that is definitely not the case.
Even though you are clean when you use it, your towel absorbs a lot of water and is damp for perhaps a few hours each day, which is a perfect breeding ground for unwanted bacteria. The motion of rubbing the towel against your body also rubs off dead skin cells which stick to the damp towel and increase the likelihood that mold could form.
So how often should they be washed then? Surprisingly bath towels should be washed within three or four uses to keep them hygienic. It is suggested that when washing your towels you should wash them at the highest temperature possible, this will keep your towels free of any tough bacteria that might have been lingering on them.
