Fun in the sun, everybody wants some! Pools are fantastic during the summer time, and are great when you have parties or just a barbecue with friends over. But safety should be a concern while in the pool. In this article we will discuss some of the bigger points to remember while in your pool this season.

Child drownings under the age of 5 were the number one reason for accidental deaths in California Arizona, and Florida. Why is this? Because the proper guidelines and safety precautions were not instituted. So the first thing that should be done for your pool is to construct a fence around it with specific height parameters. For instance, you don’t want a fence to only be two feet high, because toddlers and other young children will find a way over it. Make the fence at least 4 to 5 feet, depending on the regulations your county or state set forth.

Another thing to do to protect your child in the pool is to supervise them. Most younger age drownings could have been prevented had the parents of these children been watching them carefully. The insidious thing about drownings.. is that you don’t hear any screaming, you don’t see anything either until it is too late. Supervising your children is one of the best things you can do to protect your child while in the pool.
