Did you ever see rust form on a metal object? It is a fairly slow process, but if the circumstances are ideal, it could surprisingly grow fast. This is a problem for homeowners, since there is more metal in your home than you might expect. There are screws and nails holding everything in place, there is rebar giving the cement in your foundation stability, you might have metal siding or roofing, and that is just mentioning the most common ones. Rust in any location can be bad, causing problems ranging from unsightly streaks to leaks to actual structural issues. One of the more serious problems with rust is when exposed rebar in your cement starts rusting. If this happens, the expanding metal will cause more cracks in the cement, exponentially worsening the problem. Treating rust is tricky, since any traces left behind quickly will cause the problem to start all over again.
