Birds – some people love them, some are scared by them and others hate them. No matter what category you fall into, as a homeowner, you need to be aware of the damage that birds can do to your home. While you might think that having bird droppings on your driveway and sidewalks is just unsightly, it is actually more of a problem than that. Bird droppings contain uric acid, and this can do damage to even the hardest materials.
Birds living around your home also build nests, and many times these will be in inconvenient locations. A bird’s nest in your chimney could cause a fire, and a bird’s nest in exhaust vents could block up important air flow from your bathroom, dryer, kitchen fan or other appliances.
It is also possible that the birds carry disease that could damage your health. Putting up secure netting over areas where birds nest can keep them away.
