If your bathroom is muggy and musty, you might have an issue with mold. This is common in bathrooms where the bathroom fan isn’t doing its job.
The bathroom fan is meant to move the moist, warm air from your bathroom to the outside of your house. This requires that the duct leads directly outside as straight as possible. Some bathroom fans vent into a crawlspace or an attic, but this will just move the moisture issues to another area of the building, and it might go unnoticed for a longer time there.
If your bathroom fan makes a lot of noise, it might be time to replace it, but cleaning out dust and debris from the fan and the duct could be all that is needed. Just ensure that you disconnect power to the fan before doing any work on it, otherwise you could risk hurting or even electrocuting yourself.
